Now Playing:

“Tired of Love”

"Tired of Love" is mainly about failure from confusion. As you get older and your baggage and your brain get more cluttered with strangeness and fear, it sometimes feels almost impossible to go along with the simplicity of falling in love, enjoying another person and being kind. This song, for me, was a way of apologizing to someone for not being able to remove myself from all that and be present in the way that I had desired to be for them.

All of that said, whenever I listen to it now, I realize it's a way of me telling that same person how much I care for them, how highly I think of them. By the time it resolves, it's saying "you are amazing, we made this complicated and we can't get what was possible back now.... but I want you to know... you're amazing."

About:
A while back we had the pleasure of working with Roman Candle who were joined by Keegan Dewitt. Unable to contain ourselves, we proceeded to film two of Keegan’s tunes as well. Never having the chance to see Keegan play before, we were impressed with how every instrument was reserved just enough but was able to add the necessary weight to enable the songs in creating a mood. It made since to learn afterwards that Keegan has been involved with producing a number of film scores including 2007’s Quiet City which won an Independent Spirit Award. Later on, we reconvened with Keegan to record a complimentary piece to round out the session and with compadre Madi Diaz in tow, they laid out on our floor and were able to capture the same weight and honesty that made the other performances work so well. It has been great getting to know Keegan during these sessions and with his newest record being released this fall, he seems poised to enlighten many new fans.
